MJ Ruff (they/them) is a first-year Data Science for Public Policy student at McCourt School of Public Policy. MJ’s research interests include digital representations of culture and identity, the epistemology of AI, and using big data to shine a light on existing inequalities. Their current research focuses on the limitations and potential of evaluation frameworks as a way to promote more ethical generative AI systems. MJ holds a B.S. in data science from Portland State University.
